Shiptape usage and setup guide
What you need
No special hardware. Shiptape runs on standard warehouse equipment.
Workstation and browser
Any desktop, laptop or mini PC running Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Brave.
Packing table camera
A standard 1080p USB webcam or overhead camera mounted above the packing table.
Barcode scanner
Any handheld or hands-free USB or Bluetooth 1D/2D scanner set to send an Enter key after each scan.
Stable internet
Reliable Wi-Fi or Ethernet for real-time video upload and wallet balance sync.
One-time setup
Do these once per packing station before your first order.

Create your account and top up your wallet
Sign up, confirm your business email and open the Wallet section. Add a starting balance (minimum ₹50) via UPI, cards or net banking. Each recorded order deducts only ₹1.

Mount and position your camera
Point the webcam straight down at the packing table, or at a 45-degree angle. Make sure the table is well lit so item labels, serial numbers and boxes are sharp and readable.

Open the recorder and allow camera access
Open the Recorder page and click Allow when the browser asks for camera access. If more than one camera is connected, pick your overhead camera from the camera dropdown.
Daily packing workflow
Two scans per order. Shiptape handles everything in between.

Scan the order barcode

- Scans the order barcode on the invoice, packing slip or picklist.

- Verifies the order, starts recording, turns the camera border red and moves focus to the next barcode field.

Pack and tape the parcel

- Places items, cushioning and the invoice in full camera view, then tapes the box.

- Keeps recording in HD so every item and the seal are on video.

Scan the shipping label

- Scans the courier tracking barcode on the shipping label.

Keep a cancel barcode at every table
Print the cancel barcode sheet and stick it next to the packing table. If an operator starts the wrong order, scanning it discards the recording instantly without charging your wallet.

Troubleshooting
Quick fixes for the most common packing station issues.
The camera feed is not showing
Check that camera access is allowed for the site in your browser settings. If several cameras are connected, choose the overhead camera from the camera dropdown on the Recorder page.
Scanning a barcode does not start recording
Your scanner must send an Enter (Return) key after each scan. Most scanners have this on by default; if not, enable the Enter suffix using the setup barcodes in the scanner manual.
The internet dropped during an upload
Fail-Safe Rescue Mode keeps the video in browser memory. Retry the upload once you are back online, or save a local copy, without packing the order again.
The operator scanned the wrong order
Scan the cancel barcode. The recording is discarded straight away and your wallet is not charged.
Recording paused because the wallet is empty
Top up from the Wallet section via UPI or cards. Turn on automatic top-up so it does not happen again.
